Roles and responsibility for Data Center- AVP/VP , MORGAN STANLEY, Mumbai :

Below is the JD ....

 

Principle responsibilities include, but are not limited to:



• Providing a central point of accountability for the overall
management of an enterprise data center including relationship management with
the landlord, vendors, IT teams, Corporate Services teams and building
engineers.

• Managing BAU and project activities related to M&E and IT
space in the data center. This includes event management, incident management,
problem management, change management, security entitlements management, and
cost/contract management.

• Ensuring the seamless delivery of services that support and align
with core business functions in the data center on a 24x7 basis.



BAU and project responsibilities include, but are not limited to:



• Managing vendor employees stationed to the data center; ensure
adherence to contracted deliverables including SLA’s,
KPI’s and all related reporting. Vendor leads will have a functional
reporting line to the data center operations manager.

• Managing the installation and/or decommissioning of cabling,
power and patching within the data center environment.

• Managing documentation of all data center activities including
capacity management and reporting matrices.

• Managing M&E operations and maintenance.

• Managing compliance with Morgan Stanley data center standards,
policies, procedures/practices and guidelines in the data center including
bi-annual updates from the vendor management.

• Contributing to strategic data center decisions that affect
global data center design and operations.

• Providing input into critical vendor and equipment selection -
ensuring compliance to defined standards.

• Planning of data center pipeline activities and projects; Signoff
on data center design, delivery and commissioning for new space/expansion
projects.

• Participating in data center project teams; signoff on project
requirements and implementation plans.

• Managing data-center-related health and safety concerns and
programs.



Event/Incident/Problem management responsibilities include, but are not
limited to:



• Responding to and managing all data center
events/incidents/problems from beginning to end as well as overseeing the completion
of post¬ mortems and follow-up actions.

• Managing vendor responsibility for the follow-up and reporting of
an incident when root cause is not quickly determined or when the incident is
unable to be remediated in a satisfactory manor to the impacted business.

• Managing information flow during incidents while providing
regular updates to management.

• Reviewing incident reports, documenting periodic trend summaries,
and providing updates and recommended actions to management.





Change management responsibilities include, but are not limited to:



• Overseeing all changes and change processes within the data
center including the delivery, installation, configuration, maintenance,
decommission, and disposal of equipment.





Security entitlements management responsibilities include, but are not
limited to:



• Managing all access to/from the data center including visitors,
auditors, and vendors needing access for installations and general maintenance.


• Ensuring all security standards and procedures are implemented
and followed.





Cost/Contract management responsibilities include, but are not limited
to:



• Hiring, managing and approving vendors and their associated
invoices.

• Verifying that work has been completed and products/services were
delivered at contracted costs and quality levels.

• Preparing operating budgets for the data center and participating
in monthly reviews of the operating budget and variances.



Skills Required



• Fluency in English

• University degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial
Engineering

• 5+ years of relevant experience managing all aspects of
enterprise-level data centers including projects, M&E, operations, finance,
and vendor SLAs

• Strong negotiation, communication, project management, and
reporting skills

• Strong commitment to integrity, excellence and continuous
improvement

• Ability to work independently and to quickly assess the severity
of an issue and act appropriately
