Core Skills: SYbase DBA 12.5 Replication server AND IT infr
- Ensuring support issues are dealt with in a timely manner
- Receiving support calls from AD teams on the phone or from automated systems
- Providing Sybase DB start of day checks and start of week checks on all global servers
- Server reboot checks and remediation
- Post Application Release support
- Technical problem solving
- Opening and Routing tickets to other teams at the start of an incident
- Liaising with the IB CCC control centre
- On-boarding production servers using the Automated on-boarding process
- Monitoring of Alerts and remediation of incidents
- Closure of tickets in a timely manner
- Checking automated schedules have run and fixing failed schedules
- Security & Audit compliance - to work with IRM group to ensure FSA standards are upheld.
- Service Requests - Manage client/peer support groups change and problem requests via management queue.
- Expanding knowledge of systems and applications
- Debugging script and stored procedure code
- Escalation of any Capacity Thresholds breached
- Monitoring alert logs, trace files to check Database health and corruption
Mandatory Technical Skills
Desirable Skills
- Exposure to Java
- Veritas - Volume Manager, Veritas Cluster, Veritas FS, QuickIO - version 3.x & 4
- Operating system installations via JumpStart/kick start and Red Hat network
- EMC CX-320, NAS and SAN storage solutions
- VM ware experience
- Experience with SSH and its configuration
Experience Required
Excellent technical knowledge gained from a hands on role within a global organisation. Skills must be current and include;
Minimum of 2 years' experience of Sybase with replication in a mission critical environment
Qualifications/Education Preferred
- Sybase certifications
- Minimum of degree level education
- ITIL Knowledge
